We * 03:22
She is free But she does not know the price she has to pay And he could be A lover in the life she leads throughout the day And they both could live together They both could live in peace They both could be in love together And make the world at ease Floating through a sea of troubles That the world around them makes And it really doesn't matter when you know love's patter 'Cause you know that is all it takes And she could be A mother and a daughter at the same time for a man And he could be A father and a son for her future family plan And they could raise a lot of healthy children, yeah Bring 'em up in harmony And teach them all the good things in this life But most important teach them how to be To be open and attentive and loving When the world around them shakes And it really doesn't matter when you know love's patter 'Cause you know that is all it takes She is me, She's every woman that's living in the world today And he is thee And I'm looking for the man that tells me he is free And we all can live together We all can live in peace We all can be in love together And make the world at ease Working through a sea of troubles That the world around us makes And it really doesn't matter when you know love's patter 'Cause you know that is all it takes

Mama Don’t Sing No More ©1987 Ronnee Stolzberg I remember when we used to live on the street with the candy store Carry my books from school, I had a key to get in the door Mama worked hard all day, she’d be tired when she got home My Daddy had a day and a night time job, and we’d be left alone Mama was always such a pretty sight, to my eyes She was everything. Comin’ home tired and worn, Climbing the stairs she could still find words to sing But my Mama, she don’t sing no more No stairs to climb to the second floor And there’s no lock my key is gonna turn ‘Cause they don’t keep locks on the great outdoors Ain’t no stairs to the concrete floor And this street’s the only school from which I learn Well my Daddy, he lost both his jobs and my Mama, she took ill Then a man came for the rent, but we couldn’t pay the bill And the next day I come home from school, but I can’t unlock the door This key I keep around my neck, it just wouldn’t fit no more Then we lived for awhile in a single room With no heat, but we couldn’t stay So Daddy came home drunk one night, And he packed his bags and said he’d be on his way And my Mama, she don’t sing no more No stairs to climb to the second floor And there’s no lock my key is gonna turn ‘Cause they don’t keep locks on the great outdoors Ain’t no stairs to the concrete floor And this street’s the only school from which I learn Now it’s been three years we’ve been on the streets and We’ve been living from day to day And my little sister don’t understand The stories that I tell of yesterday ‘Cause I remember when we used to live On the street with the candy store…..

Without A Dime ©1987 Ronnee Stolzberg You’ve seen ‘em every day out on the curb And you’ve tried not to catch their eye as you go by Well, there’s bound to be some problems in this world But this ain’t your problem now and so you turn and close your eyes And walk on by. But don’t you hear them cry? How can you say it ain’t your problem When it’s only a matter of time You think those men and women you’re ignoring Ever dreamed they’d be out on the road Without a dime And the old lady’s eyes say 'Can you help her?' She’s got nowhere to go since they had to close the shelter It was too overcrowded and they didn’t have the funds Once just like you she had a future A home and a family, she was safe and secure But times got hard and the next she knew Her man had lost his job, and the rest you know ‘Cause that’s the way it goes And as you sit there on your sofa With a drink in your hand and your feet up on the chair You won’t escape from their faces ‘Cause their eyes burn like fire with the pain and the sorrow and despair You can say a prayer, you can say a prayer But don’t you say it ain’t your problem ‘Cause it’s only a matter of time One of those men and women you’re ignoring On the streets may resemble yourself In another time

Born on the South Side ©1987 Ronnee Stolzberg Cory was a schoolgirl. She lived in the city where the streets aren’t so pretty But for Cory it’s the only life that she had ever known Born on the south side, and folks there never get ahead So her mother said to put away your foolish dreams, girl, ‘Cause you ain’t goin’ nowhere Straight home from school you’ll come. Watch your brother, I’m a working mother And so Cory saw her neighborhood from a windowpane Down on the corner another junkie dies from the monkey while The little boys are selling crack cocaine, and they ain’t goin’ nowhere Reach for the sky, reach for a star Dreams can come true, no matter who you are So dream, Cory, dream, dream of another day You know in your heart that your dreams Will take you far away Cory used to daydream There’d come a day when she would move far away And maybe folks won’t care what clothes she wears Or the color of her skin Her Mama said, “You’re dreamin’, girl, and it Won’t do a lick of good so start acting like you should You know your just a ghetto child, And things ain’t gonna change Four generations And year after year it never changes, dear And don’t you think I know that it ain’t fair, But it’s the best that we can do ‘Cause when you’re born on the south side There ain’t much hope between the guns and the dope And it’s a chance in five just to stay alive And some things never change Still, Cory dreamed of a life far away From the poor inner city streets she knew But the day Cory had a child of her own She could hear all her mother’s words ring true Cory is a working girl. She works in the city and it seems such a pity That the life that she once dreamed of has faded away But late in the evening, she hopes that maybe There’s a chance for her baby girl To grow up believing things are gonna change Reach for the sky, reach for a star Dreams can come true, no matter who you are So dream, Cory, dream, dream of another day You know in your heart that your dreams Will take her far away

Dreams and Philosophies ©1999 Ronnee Stolzberg Years ago I heard the music Hour after lonely hour in my room Played the records over and over Until I knew every word to every tune Those were the words of a dreamer and philosopher And I felt his pain as he spoke of the loss of our Ability to love one another The joys to be discovered in this world And through the years I heard the music Speaking out the answers to the questions in my mind When I was *LOST AND LONELY* You could always show me the way to love mankind You speak the truth of a dreamer and philosopher And I share the pain that you feel in the heart of a Society that runs for the money People think it’s funny how we live Listen to the man when he tells you to *BELIEVE IN LIFE* *EARLY MORNING HOURS* will show you the way I look outside my window and I see *MOONSHINE* on the water *DO YOU (ever) WONDER* what *WE* will be *TODAY* Years to come we’ll find the music A universal language of a peace undefied If we can teach our babies To *SHARE THE WEALTH* of a love that man denies Then we’ll move on to new dreams and philosophies Or simply drown in the wonder of The liberty that we have created Anticipated for so long
